What is Organic?
The USDA National Organic Program (NOP) defines organic as: Organic food produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides; fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation.
Before a product can be labeled "organic", a Government-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Companies that handle or process organic food before it gets to your local supermarket or restaurant must also be certified.
Who is the NOP?
In the United States, the National Organic Program (NOP) is the federal regulatory framework governing organic food. It was made law in October 2002 and is administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Organic Food Production Act of 1990 required that the USDA develop national standards for organic products and the regulations are enforced by the USDA through the NOP under this act.
It covers in detail all aspects of food production, processing, delivery and retail sale. Under the NOP, farmers and food processors who wish to use the word "organic" in reference to their businesses and products, must be certified organic.
A USDA Organic Seal identifies products with at least 95% organic ingredients:
The USDA labeling requirements for organic supplements is based on the percentage of certified organic ingredients within each product:
• Supplements made with at least 95% certified organic ingredients can carry the USDA Organic Seal and can use the term “Organic”.
• Supplements made with at least 70% organic ingredients cannot use the USDA Organic Seal and can use the phrase
“Made with Organic Ingredients”.
Supplements made with less than 70% organic ingredients cannot use the USDA Organic Seal and can only list organically produced ingredients on the side panel of the package, but may not make any organic claims on the package front.
University Nutrition® Organics USDA Certified Supplements
You eat healthy, exercise, and take nutritional supplements to help maintain optimum health – shouldn't those supplements mirror your healthy lifestyle? Shouldn't they be as NATURAL as possible?
There is a vast difference between products that simply contain organic ingredients and do not carry the USDA Certified Organic Seal and those that can carry the USDA Certified Organic Seal – which requires its composition be at least 95% organic, and approval from the USDA.
Introducing University Nutrition® Organics... the first and ONLY full range of twenty-one different USDA Certified Organic nutritional supplements (each carrying the USDA Seal) that are all natural, vegetarian approved, whole food sourced, and free of chemicals, pesticides, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and synthetic ingredients.
IMPORTANT: Read the Label!
It's important to note the USDA allows even those supplements that are made with at least 70% or even 95% certified organic ingredients, to still add synthetic vitamins within the remaining non organic ingredients. While some manufacturers may elect to add synthetic vitamins (especially for smaller dosage items, such as vitamin B and Lycopene) to their supplements in order to boost product marketing claims, the Organics range of nutritional supplements does not, and will never add synthetic vitamins
Whole Food: Nature Knows Best!
While simple in philosophy, the impetus behind "whole food sourced nutrition" is that nature knows best.
Unlike synthetic supplements that attempt to mimic nature by concentrating high doses of isolated synthetic ingredients (while not incorporating the remaining "inactive" components), the Organics range of supplements utilize the WHOLE FOOD because the missing portions from standard/synthetic supplements are NOT "inactive", but rather SYNERGISTICALLY ESSENTIAL to optimum nutritional delivery and benefit – as that is the way nature both created and intended it to be consumed... as a whole food.
Thus, whole food sourced nutrition is more beneficial... more natural...and more the way nature intended your body to receive it – from the WHOLE FOOD itself, instead of from an isolated compound and/or synthetic vitamin. Additionally, where extracts are incorporated, the Organics range couples both organic whole food sourced extracts with the whole food itself.
Organic Whole Food Nutrition
Having just discussed the nutritional benefits of whole food sourced nutrition, enter the next generation in optimum health... ORGANIC whole food sourced nutrition – i.e., where not only is nutrition derived from whole foods, but the whole foods themselves are organically grown!
The Organics range of nutritional supplements are formulated from only organically grown whole foods, ensuring each bottle – from crop to cupboard – remains free of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), or ionizing radiation for the purest, most nutritional supplements available today, as that's what nature intended... and NATURE ALWAYS KNOWS BEST!
Who is the CCOF?
There are numerous domestic certification agencies accredited by the USDA to inspect and certify products and companies, including the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), considered by many to be one of the more stringent agencies. The Organics range has been certified by the CCOF.
